Today we’re announcing JANUS, the platform that designs, builds, and rigorously tests your AI agent workforce, starting from a single discovery conversation.
The last two years gave every team access to extraordinarily capable AI agents. The next two are about turning that capability into coordinated outcomes, without spending six months and a small engineering org to get there.
The problem with “just add agents”
Most AI rollouts stall in the same place. The models work. The demos are great. But going from “we have an LLM” to “we have a fleet of agents reliably running real work across finance, ops, and engineering” is a months-long custom build: agent design, tool wiring, integration plumbing, security review, testing, deployment, governance. By the time it ships, the requirements have changed.
JANUS collapses that timeline. You bring the conversation about what your business needs. JANUS produces a fully built, rigorously tested agent ecosystem, ready for your team to take to production.
What’s in the first release
- Conversation-to-build pipeline. Feed JANUS a discovery transcript. It returns a designed and built agent workforce ready for rigorous testing on IBM watsonx Orchestrate, including agents, tools, and integrations.
- Built-in adversarial testing. Every agent ships through functional testing and red-team security review before it goes live. Prompt injection, data exfiltration, and tool misuse are probed automatically, with a report you can hand to your security team.
- Governance and audit by default. Every agent action is traceable. Compliance teams get the audit trail without retrofitting it in.
- Use-case templates for finance, engineering, marketing, healthcare, and executive operations. Pre-validated patterns you can shape to your environment.
- Enterprise integration with the systems your teams already use, through the watsonx Orchestrate connector ecosystem.
Why now
The tooling to build one agent is mature. The missing layer is the one that turns a fleet into a team, and that produces that fleet without a custom engineering project per use case. That’s the gap JANUS fills.
We’ve been running JANUS in private beta with partners across healthcare, financial services, and professional services. The pattern that’s held up: a use case that would have taken a quarter of engineering effort lands in days.
What’s next
Over the coming weeks we’ll publish:
- Deep-dives on each use-case template
- Perspectives on agent orchestration at the frontier
- Case studies from our private beta partners
- New beta opportunities as we open additional cohorts
